The Giallorossi ran out 3-2 aggregate winners against Ajax after a 1-1 draw at the Stadio Olimpico on Thursday night - and it was Dzeko who scored the goal for the hosts.
The finish - his 30th in European competitions for the club - saw him arrive in the right place at the right time to turn home Riccardo Calafiori's deflected cross.
“You need to go to where the ball is going to be,” Dzeko said.
“Perhaps, at 35, I make one or two runs fewer than I used to – but the ball arrived there again [this time]. The move that led to the goal, we perhaps could have done something similar to that in a few other moments too.
“Calafiori provided the assist and I’m pleased for him – he hasn’t played a lot this year but he really did well over the course of this quarter-final. Good for him.”
Next up for the side: Manchester United.
“We can play against anyone,” Dzeko said.
“We have not had an easy path to this point – Braga, Shakhtar Donetsk and now Ajax. We are going up against another big team with a big name, but we have to give everything we can to try and reach the final.”
He added: “We need to focus on what's ahead. We are in the semi-finals of the Europa League. There are a lot of young guys who will be playing in a massive game for the first time.
"We need to enjoy ourselves – it’s not every day you get to play at Old Trafford.”
