The Giallorosse dropped to fifth in the final league standings despite leading 2-0 early in the second half, as their hosts battled back to ensure their top-flight status for another season.

Elena Linari and Lindsey Thomas scored the goals for Betty Bavagnoli's side - who had a late chance to win the game, only for substitute Manuela Giugliano to see her penalty saved.

Roma have just one more game left in their season: they face AC Milan in their first-ever Coppa Italia final appearance next Sunday.
