With the sides around them all winning, the Giallorossi were ultimately pegged back at the Mapei Stadium after Giacomo Raspadori scored an 85th minute equaliser.
“I think we did okay against a side that make it very difficult to play against them,” Veretout said.
“They are good on the ball, we kept pushing and tried to get a result until the end. In the end it’s a draw – it’s not what we wanted but it is not a disaster.
“There are still a lot of games to be played, we need to win almost all of them to achieve our objectives.”
Veretout was a second half substitute for Paulo Fonseca’s side, as he made his return to the fray after a recent injury lay-off.
“I feel good,” the Frenchman added. “I definitely don’t have 90 minutes in my legs just yet.
“I worked hard this week in order to be back and available, I’m feeling good again and I hope that continues. Let’s see next week.”
