AC Milan 0-1 Roma Women: Frustration in the north

The Giallorosse were firmly in the contest - and perhaps even marginally had the upper hand - until goalkeeper Rachele Baldi was sent off midway through the second half, with the referee seemingly deeming her to have prevented a goalscoring chance when she kicked the ball for a second time from a goal kick situation.

Soon after the hosts were also awarded a penalty, as Milan forward Natasha Dowie went down inside the box despite limited contact from Tecla Pettenuzzo.

Italy international Valentina Giacinti duly converted the spotkick past substitute 'keeper Rosalia Pipitone - the game's defining moment.

Roma had chances during the course of the contest, with Manuela Giugliano going close against her former club on a number of occasions.

"I won't make any comment about the refereeing decision, I can only try to ensure the team's performances continue to improve," Bavagnoli said afterwards.

"If our performances continue like this, then the results will come. Unfortunately we are dropping points along the way right now - but even down to 10 the girls played well and they can walk off the pitch with their heads held high."
