Roma found out their opponents for this season's Europa League group stage on Friday afternoon.
The Giallorossi will face Young Boys, CFR Cluj and CSKA Moscow for a place in the knockout stages of the competition, with the games to be played over the coming months.
Here's what Fonseca had to say about the draw.
"We'll see how it unfolds," Fonseca said.
"We can't forget that Young Boys are the Swiss champions, Cluj are the Romanian champions, and we'll need to study CSKA Sofia to learn more about then.
"Cluj played Lazio recently in the Europa League, I saw those games. The are good sides."
Fonseca knows this season's competition will be far from straightforward.
"It's dangerous to ever think we are facing easier teams or beatable ones," he said.
"They are champions in their leagues. We will have to work hard to beat them.
"You also have to consider that Young Boys play on a synthetic pitch, which could be another added difficult. Having said that, I believe Roma are in a good position to get through the group."
