In stats: 10 notable numbers from Roma's draw with Hellas Verona

Roma kick-started their 2020-21 Serie A season on Saturday evening with a hard-fought away draw with Hellas Verona at the Stadio Marcantonio Bentegodi.

Here are some notable numbers from the first matchday of the new campaign...

1

Summer signing Pedro made his first Roma appearance against Verona, which was also notable for being the club’s competitive debut under new ownership.

2

Roma have drawn the first game of the season two years in a row - the first time they have doubled down on opening day draws since doing so across the 1994-95 and 1995-96 seasons.

5

The Giallorossi are now unbeaten in their last five away outings in Serie A (W4, D1), while they stretched their overall run to nine games without defeat in the league.

6

This was the sixth time the two sides have met on MD1 of a Serie A season - all of which have taken place at Verona - with Roma yet to lose any of those fixtures (W1, D5).

9

Antonio Mirante kept his ninth clean sheet in 17 league games for Roma, during which the 37-year-old stopper has conceded just 11 goals - at an average of only a goal every 0.53 games.

13

Roger Ibanez made 13 interceptions in the game, a number no other player on the pitch bettered, while Rick Karsdorp made his 13th appearance in Giallorossi colours - his first since the 1-0 win over Sampdoria in April 2019.

18

With this draw, Roma have extended their unbeaten run against Verona to 18 games (W12, D6) and they haven’t lost on their travels to this weekend’s hosts since October 1996.

22

The goalless draw did, however, end the club’s record of scoring in each of their last 22 meetings with Verona, as well as their run of finding the back of the net in 11 consecutive away games against the Venetians.

100

French midfielder Jordan Veretout made his 100th Serie A start at the Stadio Marcantonio Bentegodi, with only three other appearances coming as a substitute across his entire career.

150

Meanwhile, Henrikh Mkhitaryan notched up his 150th start in games across Europe’s top-five leagues - a record that spans his last seven years spent in the Bundesliga, Premier League and Serie A.
