Need to Know: Roma Women start new Serie A season

Betty Bavagnoli's side visit Sassuolo on Sunday evening to begin their 2020-21 adventure...

Roma Women get their 2020-21 season underway on Sunday night, as they face Sassuolo.

The game in Reggio Emilia gets underway at 20:45 local time - with the game being shown on Sky Sport in Italy.

This is not the first time Betty Bavagnoli's side have opened their season against Sassuolo - indeed, the club's first-ever Serie A fixture was this one, at the start of the 2018-19 season. On that occasion Sassuolo ran out 3-2 winners, although Annamaria Serturini did score the club's historic first competitive goal.

Since then, however, the Giallorosse have won all three fixtures against the Neroverdi - two of them at Tre Fontane (both 2-1 wins) and one in Emilia (1-0).

Agnese Bonfantini is our top scorer in the fixture, with three goals to her credit. The No. 22 decided this game last time the two sides met, with an early strike for the away side.

Roma, however, are still yet to win an opening day fixture - losing both their curtain-raisers to date, with last season seeing a 3-0 home defeat against AC Milan.
