Thursday's game at the Ghelamco Arena gets underway at 18:55. Roma are looking to book their place in the last-16 of the competition, as they go into the tie protecting a slender 1-0 advantage.
Here's what the Dutch forward had to say about the upcoming game...
Do you think your progression is going according to plan?
“As I’ve said before, I’m pleased with my decision to join Roma. I came here to play and I’m learning every day, from the more experienced players too. Clearly I can always do better, but I try to achieve that by working hard every day.”
How have things changed under Paulo Fonseca? The wide players seem to play closer to the central striker now…
“I like the way we play. It’s different to the game I played at Ajax, but I’m working hard. I feel good here, I’m young and all this can only do me good for the future.”
Roma have just come through a period of a month and a half without a win. What’s your take on that spell? Do you think it’s behind you?
“Yes, before the wins we had a bad run with a series of defeats, which made us really angry. That said, it’s really important to focus and concentrate on the next game. As the coach has said, the league is a marathon and when you have a slip-up you can’t afford to stop completely. I have real confidence in this team and I want to stay focused and work hard to help my team-mates.”
How would it feel to be knocked out so close to your home country?
“I always think positively. I have a lot of belief in this team so that thought doesn’t even cross my mind. Tomorrow we want to produce a good performance for the fans.”
