Roma raises close to €100,000 through ‘ASSIEME’ charity shirt initiative

AS Roma has raised close to €100,000 in just five days through the sale of 500 limited edition shirts adorned with the message ‘ASSIEME’ across the front

Nearly all 150 of the blue third kit shirts have sold out and just over 30 red home shirts remain – with these expected to be sold online within the next 48 hours.

All money raised from the sales will go directly to supporting Roma Cares efforts to tackle the Covid-19 crisis in the Italian capital.

On Thursday, the club announced it was releasing 500 special Roma shirts with ‘ASSIEME’ across the front, with each one individually numbered. Within the first 24 hours, more than half of the shirts were sold as fans continue to generously support the club’s efforts to tackle the current crisis in Italy.

“On behalf of everyone at AS Roma and Roma Cares, I’d like to thank every fan who contributed to our fundraising initiative and purchased an ‘ASSIEME’ shirt,” said Francesco Calvo, chief operating officer at AS Roma. “The response from the supporters has been incredible and sums up exactly what our ‘ASSIEME’ campaign is all about.

“I’d also like to thank our partners who helped us launch the shirt initiative in record-time. Qatar Airways selflessly allowed us to replace their brand with ‘ASSIEME’ for this limited edition shirt, while Nike was also very supportive.

"I must also thank EPI, our ecommerce partner, who, in this difficult moment, still managed to mobilise their team to add patches to the shirts, prepare the shirts for delivery and then waived their regular commission to ensure that all of the proceeds from the shirt sales could go to the Roma Cares Covid-19 fund.

"Over the last weeks, when things have been most difficult here in Italy, I think we’ve seen some really special examples of what happens when the club, our fans and our partners all come together to help each other.”

Only a small number of the ‘ASSIEME’ home shirts remain available to buy online. Click here for more details.
