Dzeko reflects on Europa League draw

With a last-16 showdown with Sevilla already confirmed, the Giallorossi now know that either Olympiakos or Wolves will await the winner of that game in the quarter-finals - while Manchester United, Istanbul Basaksehir and Copenhagen are among the club's potential semi-final opponents.

Here's what Dzeko had to say about all that!

On the draw itself...

"Yeah, I think the draw is not easy. It’s very difficult because on the other side obviously, if we pass Sevilla, then we can play some great teams which are Wolves and Olympiakos and then Manchester United, who is probably the favourite of this competition. Then Basaksehir and Copenhagen are options too. They are all teams that are difficult to play against, but if you want to win the competition then you have to play anyone. We’ll see."

On his past meetings with some of those opponents...

"I think they are great teams, especially Manchester United. I played so many times against them, beating them as well! Wolves as well, I played them a few times when I was in the Premier League and scored against them as well. But I think in this moment they are a different team than they were seven or eight years ago. And when I say a different team, I mean a much better team than they were before. Definitely not easy to play.

"Olympiakos I have not played against, maybe some friendly matches, but they are all teams that want to win the Europa League, which makes this competition even more competitive and difficult.

"But like I said before, first of all we need to try and win against another great team, which is Sevilla. We know that will be a tough game and we need to prepare well for that, and then after that whichever team comes hopefully we will go through and meet one of the teams."

On the new format of the competition...

"Yeah, I think it is an opportunity because you have only four games and you can win the trophy. I definitely prefer the old format, at home with your own fans, when they have the chance to see you and support you. We saw that two years ago in the Champions League when we arrived in the semi-finals.

"But this is how it is right now, we have to accept it, and I think it’s an interesting thing. It’s something new, which nobody did before, nobody played like this before, so it will be fun to see how it goes."
