The Giallorossi picked up their first victory in four games thanks to goals from Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Jordan Veretout - although the boss was still not completely satisfied with how things panned out.
Here are his thoughts on the game...
It was important to get a win after three loses in a row – but Roma tonight gave a different account of themselves...
“Yes. It was important to win but also to play well. I think we put in a good performance. The lads all responded well to the moment they were in.
“I am pleased with the win but not with the final scoreline. We could have scored three or four goals quite easily – there was no reason for us to suffer the way we did.”
The side created more chances than in the other games. Was there a different approach?
“We created a lot of chances. After conceding the early goal the side really responded well. Defensively we were strong and we didn’t give Parma any space to attack. There were a lot of openings we created, and the reaction from the whole team was good.”
Jordan Veretout and Amadou Diawara essentially saw out the game today, having different responsibilities?
“Jordan had a bit more licence to attack, he did really well and he’s in good form at the moment. Diawara too played well, helping out the three defenders. With the way Parma play it was important to recover the second ball and play forward. And he did really well in that regard."
How did the team do today, in terms of their attacking ambition?
“Today they all showed their ambition and desire to win the game. But we have still won just one game. We need to take that same attitude into the next match, otherwise the win tonight won’t mean much.”
What should we expect in terms of rotation for the next game?
“I don’t want to change a lot. The team played well today, but two players are now suspended for Brescia on Saturday and so we will have to make some changes.”
