Europa League: The permutations ahead of Thursday night

The match gets underway at 21:00, as Group J comes to a conclusion.

As a reminder, here's how the table stands with one game remaining (Borussia Monchengladbach host Istanbul Basaksehir in the night's other game).

Here's a brief breakdown of what Paulo Fonseca's side need to do on Thursday, to book their place in the last-32 draw...

If Roma win...

We are THROUGH, regardless of results elsewhere. If Borussia Monchengladbach fail to win, we will also top the group.

If Roma draw...

We are THROUGH, regardless of results elsewhere. With nine points, it is impossible for both Gladbach and Istanbul Basaksehir to equal that.

If Roma lose...

We will quality UNLESS Basaksehir win in Germany. A draw is not enough for the Turkish side - both teams will be on eight points but we have the head-to-head tiebreaker. But equally, a victory for Basaksehir will guarantee their progression at the expense of someone...

The draw for the last-32 of the competition is scheduled to take place next Monday in Nyon.

The draw is seeded - the 12 group winners are seeded, along with the four best-ranked third placed teams from the Champions League group stage, and will play the second leg of their tie at home.

For Roma to win the group, and thus be seeded, they need to achieve a better result on Thursday than Gladbach - if the two sides finish level on points, the Germans will top the group by virtue of their better head-to-head record.
