    Dzeko disappointed by display

Edin Dzeko admitted it was a "shame" that Roma could not build on their positive derby performance with a victory over Sassuolo on Saturday.

The Giallorossi fell to a 4-2 defeat at the Mapei Stadium, despite Dzeko notching his 100th goal for the club in the process.

“I don’t know what to say, we tried to press them but they escaped too easily,” Dzeko said.

“Against Lazio we did well; but today someone was always late [to their task]. We need to congratulate Sassuolo, because they played really well.

"But after the performance against Lazio it’s a real shame to have lost like this.”

Is there a chance this defeat could have a lasting impact?

“We hope not, it’s not the first time we haven’t been at our best and then in the next game we’ve bounced back. We’ve dropped three important points, so we need to earn them back somewhere else, starting with the next game against Bologna at home.”

The team looked nervous and irritated: how does that happen?

“When you are three goals down we are going to be irritated. With the goals we conceded it always seemed like one of us thought another was going to go over to the ball – and then no-one did.

"You can get irritated, but you have to keep a clear head. The game is 90 minutes long and we showed after the break that we could have recovered. It’s a shame that we conceded a fourth on the counter-attack just after making it 3-2. We have to look forward now.”
