Stat Attack: Facts to know as we visit Genoa

We've put together a few facts and figures worth knowing ahead of Sunday's Serie A meeting with Genoa.

The game at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris gets underway at 18:00 local time.

    No. 53 in Genoa

This will be the 53rd top-flight meeting between these two sides – with Roma having won 10 to date, including five since Genoa reclaimed their Serie A status back in 2007. The Giallorossi have lost 25 times in Liguria, drawing the other 17.

    Positive trend

Roma have taken 27 of a possible 33 points from their last 11 games against Genoa in Serie A: since the start of the 2014-15 season they have only picked up more points against Udinese (30).

    Last win at the Ferraris

The Giallorossi last beat Genoa on their own patch back in January 2017 – when Bruno Peres fired home a shot that was deflected in by Armando Izzo.

    January travails

These sides have met 15 times in the first month of the year – with Roma winning eight of those games. They have drawn three and lost the remaining four

    Set-piece situations

Roma have scored more goals from dead-ball situations (15) than any other side this season – while Genoa have conceded more from such positions (16) than any other side

    Pellegrini the assist leader

Lorenzo Pellegrini has already created six goals this season, more than any other Italian in Serie A so far. Last season it was Fabio Quagliarella and Manuel Lazzari that led those standings, with 8 apiece.

    Unlucky 11 for Genoa

The Rossoblu have already lost 11 games in the league this season – only three times in their history have they reached such a mark by the midpoint of the season. On both other occasions (1950-51, 1959-60) they ended up being relegated at the end of the season…

    Sixth meeting with Nicola

Roma have faced Davide Nicola six times as a coach – winning four of those, and losing just once. This will be the first meeting with Nicola for Paulo Fonseca as a coach.

    Totti stands out

With seven goals against Genoa in his career, Totti is the Roma player with the most career goals against the side from Liguria. Behind him stands Amedeo Amadei on six, with Rodolfo Volk and Arne Selmosson on five.

    Florenzi on the rise

Among the current crop, Alessandro Florenzi leads the way with three career goals against Genoa. Dzeko and Cengiz have both scored twice against Nicola’s side…
