The former Chile international, who recently announced his retirement from professional football, was given a warm round of applause by the Curva Sud, as he took to the pitch before the Serie A opener.
"You know how much I care about this club," Pizarro, who was accompanied by his daughter for the presentation, told Roma TV.
"[The ovation] is one of those things that you never, ever forget. I like to think I left a mark here."
Pizarro, who played for the Giallorossi for six years between 2006 and 2012, made over 200 appearances for the club - winning the Coppa Italia twice and the Supercoppa once during his career.
Grande Pek!
