Diawara: A good test and a good result

Are you pleased with how you played today?

“I'm happy with the result. We knew it was going to be tough against a side who are further ahead with their preparations as the French league starts next Sunday. It was a decent test for us and a good result.”

You've clearly come to Roma raring to go. How are you settling in?

“I'm really happy to have joined Roma. Everyone's welcomed me so well: my team-mates, the coach, the staff and everybody at the club. I'm going to do everything I can so that I'm ready for the start of the season.”

What has Paulo Fonseca asked you to do?

“He wants me to always show for the ball. The midfielders are very important in the style of football he wants to play. I have to try and play the ball forward whenever I can.”

Do you like playing deeper or do you miss getting up into shooting positions?

“To be honest, I just want to do what the boss asks of me. It's not for me to do things of my own accord. We're working hard every day and I'm trying to reproduce what we do in training during matches. I do attempt things but obviously I try to follow Fonseca's instructions.”
