The Giallorosse finished fourth in Serie A last term, in what was the club’s first-ever campaign in professional women’s football.
And, after a summer that has seen a number of full internationals join Betty Bavagnoli’s squad, Bartoli is confident that a significant improvement is on the cards for the club in its second season.
“The new arrivals have increased the quality and the intensity. We are working well together already,” Bartoli told Roma TV.
“The principles of the way we want to play are the same: press teams high up the pitch and move the ball quickly. In our way of playing every player gets on the ball.
“So far we have played mini-matches to get to know each other; we’ve also worked on technique and our fitness – to make sure we are fit for the season.”
On the season ahead, she added: “Our target is to keep improving and I can’t deny that it would be great to finish in the top two: this year we are aiming as high as we can.
“It will be a great championship, competitive – with another important club, Inter Milan, added into the mix too. It definitely won’t be boring.”
Bavagnoli’s squad are currently in Norcia, Umbria, for a week-long training campaign.
The Serie A campaign gets underway in mid-September.
