Roma won 1-0 against the Blucerchiati at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris, thanks to Daniele De Rossi’s second half strike.
The result ensured the Giallorossi returned to winning ways after a tough spell – and puts them back in the hunt for a top four finish in Serie A.
“It’s a vital win; you could see the determination we had from the first minute,” Fazio said.
“The team put in a big effort and kept a clean sheet, and that’s a positive thing for the whole team. We still have seven finals ahead, we are not where we want to be but we are in the hunt.”
He added: “We’ve played three games in six days and have slowly improved. It was important to finish up with a win.
There are seven big games left but you could see the hunger from the side to get to where we want to be. We need to keep playing like we did to finish in the top four.”
