The result made it three games without a win for the Giallorossi, despite goals from both Perotti and, in the first half, Nicolo Zaniolo.
“It was a tough game, going behind twice and having to fight back to draw,” Perotti said afterwards.
“We are not satisfied but it is a point we had to fight to get. We tried everything we could to get the win. We know that things haven’t really been going our way since the beginning of the year – but I think that tonight you could see that we tried to take the three points and gave everything we had. We need to build on that, keeping on fighting in the face of adversity.”
He added: “We will fight right until the end to finish as high up the table as we can. We deserve that, the club deserves that, the fans, the directors and everyone else who works with us.
"We all work very hard – perhaps from outside looking in the results would suggest that is not the case, and I get that. But we are at Trigoria trying to improve things. Sometimes we aren’t able to, but it isn’t because we lack willing.”
Perotti has now scored three goals in the last three games – a positive personal return, having seen much of his season disrupted by injuries.
“It’s been a strange and unlucky season for me personally,” he said.
“I haven’t been able to help the side like I would want to – but I hope over the final weeks of the season I can chip in.
“The coach pointed out to us during the week that we ran more than Napoli at the Olimpico on Sunday. Obviously if you don’t win, running more doesn’t mean much. But that also means that the problem isn’t something fitness-related – we aren’t doing less in training or showing less desire.
"Unfortunately Napoli played better than us. But today we did better on the pitch and we showed that we wanted to get the win, despite going behind twice.”
