Cristante: We need to get the attitude right

Read what midfielder Bryan Cristante had to say following Roma’s 2-1 defeat against SPAL on Saturday evening.

Diego Perotti scored the goal for the Giallorossi, but strikes from Mohamed Fares and Andrea Petagna (from the penalty spot) ensured it was the hosts who were celebrating at the final whistle.

What’s going wrong at the moment?

“We are not able to pick up results with any consistency - right now we are struggling, we aren’t able to express ourselves like we want to. Then, with all that, if another moment like their penalty happens it all becomes even harder.”

Are you upset with the referee?

“Looking back at the video of their penalty I don’t think it was one. We took advantage of ours, but in a tough moment like right now when you have to deal with decisions like that it makes things more complicated.”

What are you lacking? How did you find the 4-4-2?

“It’s not a matter of formations or shapes, we need to find a determination as a team to finish the season as well as possible. We need to focus the right way and get the job done over the rest of the campaign.”

The coach admitted that Roma lost a lot of the individual duels: where do you need to go from here?

“Clearly, I am not saying that we didn’t have our own part to play in today’s defeat. It’s us players who go out there on the pitch and we need to do so with a different mentality and approach, and from that everything will follow."
