Cristante delighted to see the job through

Bryan Cristante was the match-winner as Roma ended their run of poor results with a 3-2 victory over Genoa on Sunday night.

Cristante scored the fifth and final goal of the night midway through the second half at the Stadio Olimpico, after Federico Fazio and Justin Kluivert had earlier equalised twice to ensure the scoreline read 2-2 at the interval.

The Giallorossi have struggled to hold on to positive results in recent weeks but, despite some pressure from the visitors, held on this time to take all three points.

"This win is definitely a massive boost," Cristante said.

"We’re coming off the back of a tough time so it was important to win today, even if we kept having to dig in right until the end."

How do you explain the change in attitude between the first and second half?

"We wanted to win. In recent games we’ve been lacking in the second half and the final minutes. We knew we needed to stay focused until the end. It was a tough one but that’s fine – this has to be a new beginning."

Is there a lot of pressure from the fans at the Olimpico?

"Like in other cities, you need to play to win every game. Sometimes the confidence suffers when you have a bad spell. You have to get that back if you want to kick on."

What gets said in the dressing room ahead of matches like this one?

"No team wants to lose. We all want to win and it’s to be expected that your head drops a bit when you lose. It happens everywhere. It’s about continuing to work hard to come through this spell."

What happened with Robin Olsen tonight?

"Mistakes happen. He’s made some great saves in other games. He doesn’t become a bad keeper after one mistake."
