AS Roma relaunches flagship website

AS Roma has officially relaunched its website, asroma.com, with a completely new look and plenty of additional features.

The site, which was soft-launch on Wednesday afternoon, boasts an entirely updated design and contains additional functionality for fans.

The new offering has been built with long-time partner Omnigon, with whom the club first began working in 2015, on the re-launch of its website and new mobile apps. At the time of that launch, Roma generated industry headlines by becoming the first professional sports team to use Reddit to crowdsource creative and technical input into the development of a new website.

In 2017, the site was named ‘Best in Class’ at the Interactive Media Awards, the highest possible honour in the Sports category, after judges awarded asroma.com 492 points out of a possible 500.

The new site, available in English, Italian and Indonesian, with Arabic due to be rolled out in the coming months, features enhanced video capabilities - including auto-play video on the homepage - and an increased focus on in-game player and team statistics, which are presented with all-new visualisations.

The update also includes a simplified ticketing system to help supporters, better integration of social media content, and more options for including branded content and partner integrations throughout the site.

“When we launched a new Roma website in December 2015, we completely ripped up what had gone before and took a completely new approach to defining what a football club website could be,” said Paul Rogers, Roma’s head of digital media.

“We involved supporters from the start and took on board their feedback and ideas. With this website relaunch, we didn’t need to rip anything up.

"We’ve introduced a cleaner design, improved the functionality that worked best, refined some of the areas of content that didn’t work as well as we’d hoped and taken advantage of improvements in technology to deliver a better user experience for fans.”
