After three painful defeats to start the campaign, the Giallorosse were not to be denied at the Stadio della Buffa in Tuscany.
“We’ve taken the three points, we needed them, they will give us a boost,” Bavagnoli said.
“I liked the determined attitude the girls showed. We still are still not quite as clinical as we could be in front of goal, but these are three valuable points.”
The Giallorosse were the dominant force for much of the 90 minutes, but had to overcome some misfortune to finally break their league duck. Both Martina Piemonte and Angelica Soffia were forced off through injury in the first half, before Claudia Ciccotti broke the deadlock in stoppage time.
In the second half, substitute Bonfantini slotted home after a clever throughball to put Bavagnoli's side within reach of their first win.
A late penalty for the hosts set up a nervy finish - but in the end Roma Women saw out the final five minutes to emerge victorious.
“When you play three games and don’t pick up any points it can hurt the morale a bit," Bavagnoli added.
"In the last few minutes today we suffered a bit, because we were a bit scared, after a game where we had played well. Luckily the girls saw it out well.
“It’s a new start, for us every game will be crucial; we will prepare for Wednesday and Saturday to try and put together a run of results.”
