Bolgona v Roma: 3 opposition players to watch out for

Roma return to Serie A action on Saturday with a trip to Stadio Renato Dall’Ara to face 16th place Bologna. Wayne Girard selects three players for Roma to look out for…

Mattia Destro

After completing his summer move from Roma to Bologna, Mattia will be hungry to score against his former employer. Although he's endured a rough start for the Emilia-Romagna club, scoring only one goal, we can't forget his goals per game ratio last season: 5 goals in 16 appearances.

Motivation against his ex-teammates could be all that is required for Mattia to return to goalscoring form. Kostas Manolas and Antonio Rüdiger will have to stay on their toes to avoid letting him slip in behind them.

Adam Masina

The-21-year old Moroccan-born, Italian U21 international has made a name for himself this season, solidifying himself as an all-out and conquering left wingback. A swift, strong tackler, Adam also adds to the attack on set pieces, scoring a goal and assisting three this season.

In 12 matches, he's created 13 chances and has an aerial-duel success rate of 60%. A stellar performance in Bologna's 3-0 win over Atalanta on November 1, his white-hot form could complicate Roma's building of attack on our right wing.

Emanuele Giaccherini

A résumé that speaks for itself: two consecutive titles with Juventus, helping Cesena gain promotion to Serie A, a Euro 2012 finalist, and over 20 caps for the Azzurri. Emanuele is on loan at Bologna from Sunderland and the 30-year-old will be hungry to make a name for himself with his new club.

At 1.67m, Emanuele is a speedy, versatile attacking midfielder who can press the defensive zone all match. If he is able to find pockets of space in between the defensive midfield and defense, he can make any team pay. In five appearances, he's scored twice and created three chances.

With 138 passes completed this season, he's also achieved an 81% pass accuracy rate, with 58% of them being forward passes. De Rossi and Nainggolan will have to pay special attention to prevent Emanuele from exploiting the statistics sheet.
