GOALKEEPER
Samir Handanovic (Inter)
The 31-year old Slovenian made a critical save on Mattia Destro late to preserve the 1-0 win for Inter. After Felipe Melo was sent off in the 60th minute for a second yellow, Handanovic had to lock down for 30 minutes and he did just that.
DEFENDERS
Luca Antonelli (Milan)
The ex-Genoa man played one of his best matches in 2015/16 on Wednesday in a narrow 1-0 win over Chievo Verona. The 28-year old scored the decisive goal early in the second half and was defensively sound throughout.
Maicon (Roma)
The Brazilian was the Man of the Match against Udinese, according to WhoScored.com with near mint rating of 9.5. A goal and an assist in his return to the lineup helped Roma seal the 3-1 win over Udinese, keeping them atop the league table.
Alessio Romagnoli (Milan)
The former Sampdoria and Roma youngster has been carrying quite a workload this season with the underperformance of his defensive partners. However, the U-21 Italian was key in helping Siniša Mihajlović and his men earn the clean sheet in a 1-0 win over Chievo. He won his share of aerial battles and did all he could to help Donnarumma collect his first clean sheet.
Francesco Acerbi (Sassuolo)
The 27-year old has been key for Sassuolo’s climb to the upper portion of the table. Against Juventus, the ex-Milan defender looked solid in defense despite the constant pressure from the Bianconeri. He made some key interceptions to cut down any chance of squandering the win for his side.
MIDFIELDERS
Miralem Pjanic (Roma)
Once again, the Bosnian midfielder shined for his club. The 25-year old added another goal to his tally for the season and converted 90% of his passes, according to WhoScored.com. He has been key in making Roma the current league leaders and does not appear to be slowing down.
Diego Laxalt (Genoa)
In a 6 goal thriller, Laxalt sparkled for his Genoa side. The young midfielder bagged two goals but it was the second which came in the dying minutes of the game, helping spoil the victory for the home side Torino.
Marek Hamsik (Napoli)
Maurizio Sarri’s side came out with a solid 2-0 win over Palermo and once again, it was the Slovakian who orchestrated from the midfield. Hamsik turned in another good performance, providing the assist on the Higuain goal before the first half ended. Napoli continues to play well and Hamsik has been at the heart of the success.
FORWARDS
Éder (Sampdoria)
The 2015/16 season has been a good one for the Italian international. Éder scored his 8th goal of the Serie A season on Thursday against Empoli, but could have had a few more. The 28-year old has been huge for the club thus far as the next highest goalscorer is Luis Muriel with four goals.
Leonardo Pavoletti (Genoa)
Pavoletti joined in on the fun his teammate Diego Laxalt was having against Torino. The 26-year old scored a goal of his own while also servicing another. It was a good day to get on the scoresheet for the Italian and he took advantage of it.
Gonzalo Higuain (Napoli)
The former Real Madrid striker bagged his 8th goal of the season in a commanding 2-0 victory over Palermo. Higuain could have doubled his tally but his shot hit the post. Things are going well for the Partenopei as they continue to breathe down the neck of Roma for the league’s top spot.
