The initiative – which is supported by AS Roma and Roma Cares – aims to raise awareness about sporting values among primary and early-secondary school children. Since last season, the campaign has involved numerous Giallorossi players.
After embracing the young pupils present, the Egyptian star stressed the importance of respect, both in sport and in every aspect of life.
"For me, respect between people underpins everything. There must always be respect, both in sport and in general between different races, religions, countries and in any other situation."
The Giallorossi No. 11 then moved on to explain how he understand the notion of a team: "You play together as a unit. It's not Salah, Edin Dzeko or Daniele De Rossi who win the games, but Roma. The same goes for when we lose.
"It's very important that there's respect and a good feeling in the side because there are 11 players out there and everyone needs to fight and do their best to win. Communicating with each other to find the right solution is also crucial. When you make a mistake, you must work to fix it together."
The project is carried out in collaboration with G.E.CO Animation through a series of educational workshops focusing on the importance of fair play and good behaviour, which is at the heart of every sporting competition.
