Manolas: If you lose it’s not a good performance

Kostas Manolas is under no illusions that the result was all that mattered as Roma bowed out of the Champions League at the hands of Real Madrid on Tuesday night

“If you lose it’s not a good performance,” the Greek defender said after the game. “We’re Roma and when we lose we’re angry.”

Manolas, who played in all eight of the Giallorossi’s Champions League games this season, gave this assessment of the match at the Bernabeu: “We need to have more belief. If you play with fear against Real Madrid it’s to be expected that you lose. We’ve shown we’re good enough to beat anyone and we’ve created lots of chances, but we didn’t score – and that’s football.”

The Greek defender then called for the side to switch its focus to the upcoming Serie A match against Udinese: “It’s a key match. If we want to qualify for the Champions League we need to win all our games so we’ll be going there to do that.”
