Here are three players Wayne Girard thinks the Giallorossi will need to keep an eye on if they are to continue their winning ways…
In his first season with Inter, the 23-year-old central defender has been a sensation for the Nerazzurri. In 26 appearances, Murillo has won 41 tackles, made 56 interceptions, 108 clearances, and blocked 20 shots. The Colombian’s pace and tough tackling effectively break up most opponent’s attacks. After he was sent off in October against Palermo, Murillo has matured in his physical role, only receiving one yellow since. Roma should first look to attack down the flanks to avoid Murillo’s disruptive play.
Also just 23-years-old, Brozovic has become indispensable to Inter’s midfield. With three goals, two assists, and 28 chances created, the Croatian international has been fundamental in initiating the attack from central midfield. He has a pass accuracy of 82%: completing 887 passes, 79% of which were forward. Roma must focus on limiting Brozovic’s influence and creativity if they are to keep Inter quiet.
The Italian international has struggled since making the move from Sampdoria mid-season, having not registered a single goal since joining Inter. However, he did score 12 goals in the first half of the season in all competitions, so his goal-scoring prowess is impossible to ignore. Capable of playing in any forward position, Éder can take on defenders by himself, create chances for his teammates, or make runs behind the opponent’s defence. He will be eager to validate his place in the team this Saturday as he hopes to earn a spot on Antonio Conte’s Euro 2016 squad. Roma’s centre-backs must be wary of the Italian’s clever movement and not allow him too much space.
