The Giallorossi No. 24, who is a finalist in the FIFA Puskás Award, the winner of which will be revealed during the FIFA event in Switzerland, declared himself happy and honoured to be involved in the ceremony.
“It’s a dream to be here in Zurich for this ceremony,” said Florenzi shortly after touching down in Switzerland. “Being here alongside Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar and so many other great players from the past and present makes me very proud and happy.
“I’ll try to enjoy the moment and stay relaxed. We’ll have to wait and see how it turns out tonight…” Florenzi added.
Florenzi, who is up against Argentine Lionel Messi and Brazilian Wendell Lira in the battle for the Puskás Award, acknowledged that his long-range strike against Barcelona in the group stages of the 2015-16 Champions League had been watched all over the world: “The goal has made me more well-known on the international level and that’s really important to me. I’m delighted about that. Let’s hope it’s not the only goal like that I score in my career.”
