The ex-Roma defender knows a thing or two about the new Giallorossi boss having spent three seasons under his stewardship during a six-year spell in the Italian capital.
“He was my coach for years so I know how good he is, both tactically and psychologically,” the 38-year-old said in an interview with Il Messaggero.
“From what I heard, he was really missing coaching. I'm sure he'll get stuck into the job with the same incredible enthusiasm as always now.”
Cassetti, who played 198 games for Roma scoring five goals, joined the club during Spalletti's second season in charge and was part of the team that lifted the first piece of silverware under the Tuscan coach – the 2007 Coppa Italia.
“Luciano is like a volcano,” the former Giallorossi right-back continued. “He knows how to push all the right buttons in his players. This is one mighty fine coach we're talking about. You only need look at what he's achieved throughout his career to understand that.
"It won't take him long to figure out who he's working with - that's something he's really good at. He enjoyed a lot of success at Roma and he understands exactly what the city and the fans are all about.”
