Spalletti: Nothing is impossible

That's the message Luciano Spalletti delivered in his news conference ahead of Tuesday's meeting at the Bernabeu.

“We can't be thinking we've already come to the end of the road,” the Giallorossi boss declared. “Belief can change matches and that's what can give us an edge – believing that it's possible.”

Roma are tasked with overturning a 2-0 first-leg deficit when they lock horns with the Spanish giants in Madrid.

“Anyone who does this job asks a lot of their players but I'm going beyond that and asking mine to do the impossible. Having watched them train in the last few days, they look as if they're willing to take on an impossible task.

“We can't be weak and go out there thinking we've already lost. If I saw that mindset in any of my players today, I wouldn't even let them train.”

The coach added that Roma need look no further than the first leg at the Olimpico for inspiration.

“There were a few moments when we came up short but overall we got our game plan right. If we remember that, it will give us confidence.”
