“All of the lads have shown improvement and contributed to the cause – that's the most satisfying thing,” the Giallorossi boss declared after the league match on Saturday.
Reflecting on the season as a whole, the U19 coach went on: “We got off to a really strong start this year, then we lost a couple of players but whoever has come in has made up for our absences. I'm very happy today.”
The 7-0 win over Crotone means that – with three games to spare – Roma are already certain to be involved in the Primavera championship end-of-season finals
“It's a great achievement for us, which we can add to almost reaching the Youth League semi-finals. You might think it's a foregone conclusion but you don't do it just because you're called Roma. In fact, all the teams try even harder when they play against us.”
Two long-term absentees made their return against Crotone: forward Ezequiel Ponce, who bagged two of the Giallorossi's seven-goal haul, and defender Elio Capradossi, who scored himself from the penalty spot.
“I thought they both looked great and got stronger as the game went on. Elio was flying at the end. The more he plays, the better he looks. We missed his experience and quiet leadership skills. He's also very good technically and helps us build from the back.”
