Here is Italian Football Daily’s Team of the Week for Matchday 31...

Goalkeeper

Gianluigi Buffon (Juventus)

Only one of the three goalkeepers this matchday to keep a clean sheet and he made the most saves out of them. He’s surrendered only one goal in 2016.

Defenders

Daniele Rugani (Juventus)

Didn’t show any signs of being a youngster and resembled a veteran in Juve’s defense. He did very well with and without Chiellini and looked to take another step forward in his development. Another clean sheet as well for the young Italian.

Gabriel Paletta (Atalanta)

Did well to halt Carlos Bacca, who had been running rampant lately. He was neat and tidy all game long and didn’t make any individual mistakes.

Kostas Manolas (Roma)

A match without any particular flaws from the towering Greek center half, he did well along with Rudiger to contain Matri and gave a very big helping hand to Florenzi.

Midfielders

Bruno Fernandes (Udinese)

The Portuguese midfielder did a lot of damage to Napoli in the form of two wonderful goals. He played well in Udinese’s revolving midfield and the performance against Napoli may only be a glimpse of his potential.

Francesco Magnanelli (Sassuolo)

The director of a splendid trident in the midfield for Sassuolo, provided a lot of cover as well in front of the defense.

Paul Pogba (Juventus)

Splendid assist to Mario Mandzukic gave Juventus their lone goal of the game. His physical presence was nearly impossible for Empoli to deal with, overall another great performance from the French phenomenon.

Diego Perotti (Roma)

A massive pain for Lazio all day long, gallivanting towards the defense and constantly put Bisevac under heavy fire. As he hoped for in the build up to the derby, he also got to celebrate his first goal against Lazio, yesterday.

Strikers

Suso (Genoa)

Hattrick hero for Genoa against lowly Frosinone, a massive stepping stone towards returning to a top club. An excellent performance from the young Spaniard.

Mauricio Pinilla (Atalanta)

Tough to choose between Pinilla and Papu Gomez, but the Chilean takes the cake with his total performance. He leveled the game at 1-1 against Milan and his aforementioned teammate gave Atalanta the second.

Stephan El Shaarawy (Roma)

Excellent game for El Shaarawy, heading home the opener by beating Marchetti on the follow up. He was a participant in all the action in the offensive half for Roma, but in the second half he faded away slightly. He’s been a machine since joining from Monaco/Milan.
