Torino coach Giampiero Ventura believes his side will have to step up another level if they are to build on the weekend victory over Bologna with another positive result against Roma on Wednesday.
Ventura’s side grabbed a valuable three points through Andrea Belotti’s late penalty at the weekend, a win that moved the side into the top-ten in Serie A and effectively ended any lingering fears of relegation they may have had.
On Wednesday they travel to the Stadio Olimpico to face a Roma side looking to rebound following Sunday’s draw at Atalanta, and Ventura believes his side will have to be at their best to get a positive result.
“Tomorrow is a challenging game,” Ventura said at his pre-match press conference on Tuesday.
“Against Bologna we were masters of the situation, the reading of the spaces was very good: the next step would be able to do the same against the Giallorossi.
“We meet an angry team and it will be a golden opportunity for us to see where we stand in terms of character.”
The Giallorossi will start the game as favourites - as they look to get back to winning ways after successive draws - but Ventura was keen to point out that his side have fared well against other top sides recently.
"All teams react differently [to disappointing results]. Our focus is not on Roma but ourselves,” he said. “In their last six games Inter have only lost to us: if you play to win, like we do, then everything is possible."
However, the experienced coach will travel to the capital with a number of injury concerns, with striker Maxi Lopez unlikely to feature.
"We have summoned two young Primavera players [Simone Edera and Leonardo Candellone] to the squad,” he said. “Maxi Lopez and [Ciro] Immobile are unavailable, so Belotti will not be able to rest.
"Maxi Lopez has a high fever. [Nikola] Maksimovic looks good to play, but I'm afraid to say so for sure.”
Roma coach Luciano Spalletti is scheduled to speak to the press later on Tuesday.
