Euros participation ends for five Giallorossi members

Florenzi

The European Championship is over for five of the Roma players involved in the competition, following the completion of the quarter-final stage on Sunday

Wojciech Szczesny, Radja Nainggolan, Stephan El Shaarawy, Daniele De Rossi and Alessandro Florenzi all saw their participation come to an end, following defeats in the last-eight.

The one Giallorossi interest left in the competition is France full-back Lucas Digne. The 22-year-old, who spent last season on loan at the Stadio Olimpico, has yet to make an appearance in the competition - but has a further opportunity to do so as Les Bleus face Germany in the semi-finals on Thursday.

It was Germany who ended Italy's involvement in the tournament, after a penalty shootout victory over the Azzurri on Saturday. Florenzi started that game - and made a memorable goal-line clearance to help keep his side in the contest - but ultimately Antonio Conte's side succumbed in agonising fashion, following Matteo Darmian's penalty miss in an unpredictable shootout.

Florenzi's club teammate De Rossi did not recover from injury in time to play in the match, while El Shaarawy was an unused substitute.

Goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny was also an unused substitute as Poland lost on penalties to Portugal. Szczesny picked up an injury in the opening group stage victory over Northern Ireland, and did not recover in time to play again in the tournament.

The other player to see his tournament come to an end was Nainggolan, despite the midfielder scoring his second goal of the tournament in the meeting with Wales. The 25-yard rocket briefly gave the Red Devils the lead, but goals from Ashley Williams, Hal Robson-Kanu and Sam Vokes sent Chris Coleman's side into the semi-finals.

Here is the semi-final schedule for the Euros - all kick-off times are 2100 CEST.

Wednesday 6 July
Portugal v Wales

Thursday 7 July
Germany v France (Digne)
