Rudiger: I was delighted to contribute to the victory

Rudiger reaction

Antonio Rudiger was more than satisfied with his role in Roma's win over Napoli this afternoon at the Stadio Olimpico

The German centre-back highlighted the solid performances of everyone in the Giallorossi defence that went a long way to achieving a massive result in the fight for second place.

"I'm delighted with my contribution to the victory and that the team won such a big encounter," Rudiger declared in his post-match interview. "The entire back-line played well and helped Roma win. Now we're closer to Napoli."

Do you believe you can get second spot?

"First of all, we have to do our duty and win the last three games, then we'll wait and see if Napoli drop any points by the wayside and if we're able to achieve this objective."

What's the secret behind your good form?

"I think I'm playing well at the moment and I'm improving game after game. I'm happy, I try to give everything I have for the team."

Just like in the reverse fixture, Gonzalo Higuain failed to score against Roma.

"The whole team stopped Higuain, not just me. Everybody did well in defence: Manolas, Zukanovic, Florenzi, Maicon and Digne. Szczesny in goal also did fantastically on a couple of occasions against the Argentinian. We're on the right track to make progress and work together to achieve the same objective."

Are Napoli's forwards the toughest to mark?

"Napoli's attack is very strong and obviously Higuain with 30 goals in the league isn't easy for anybody to deal with. In both games this season we've all done really well, not just Manolas and myself but the entire defence and everyone in the team."
