Baldissoni on Roma's new signings, transfer market activity and the atmosphere at the club

Baldissoni

General manager Mauro Baldissoni sat down with Roma TV on Monday morning to give fans an update on a variety of issues.

After praising the setup and facilities at Pinzolo and welcoming the fans who have made the trip, Baldissoni was asked about a variety of issues, ranging from how the new signings are settling in to how the club are continuing to approach the transfer market over the coming weeks.

Read his thoughts below.

Baldissoni on ... Pinzolo

"The facilities, countryside and panorama here are exceptional. It is a really beautiful place in which to work. Everything works perfectly and all the coaches and management are satisfied: they are in the perfect environment to do their job.

"Spending a full week here with two weekends either side gives those who want to follow the team more time to organise their own holidays appropriately. A lot of people have come, the response is just as we expect – excitement and support for the team. It's always a nice moment when you start again after a period of being apart. Fans and players have come together in a place where it's easy to be in contact with each other and share experiences.

"Moreover, it offers a chance for supporters who don't live in Rome to see their idols up close as well as enjoying the summer holidays and the mountains."

Baldissoni on ... the mood in the camp

"The players are working well, they like it here. There's no stress so they're happy to spontaneously give something extra to the fans outside of the contact time we have already set up. When they can, the players are prepared to make everyone happy and this is a sign they are relaxed.

"We want to see willingness, hard work and coaches who are satisfied that the players are giving the right responses to their instructions. So far this has been the best it can be and we have no cause for concern. Both the players who have been at the club for years and the new signings are working hard and showing willingness. The same is true of the young players, who are fresh from their title win but have put themselves about with great humility and enthusiasm.

"The coaching staff are very pleased and that's what we need to have at this stage and at this moment."

Baldissoni on ... the coach

"The coach is extremely talented and very experienced. He knows exactly what he wants and what message he needs to put out starting with these days which are vital when setting up the season and establishing objectives.

"He came here in a very determined frame of mind and is doing a great job, helped by the superb response we've seen from the players. There's a good atmosphere here, we're all happy."

Training

Baldissoni on ... the new arrivals

"We were lucky with Gerson in that we bought him last season so he's already had two months in Trigoria and knows the coaches, his team-mates and the environment. He's a new signing who is perfectly in tune with the way we work.

"Alisson was also purchased a while ago, so although he hasn't spent any time with us he has been able to get himself in the know, follow the club and understand our projects and expectations.

"Mario Rui has played in Italy for some time and knows Roma well. Luciano Spalletti knows him well too, as when he wasn't coaching he often sat in on Empoli's training sessions. It's the best way of bringing new players into the fold, there's no great risk of rejection or having to wait for them to adapt physically."

Baldissoni on ... the transfer market

"Everyone is aware of the time-frame, the window closes on 30 August and I don't think any team in Europe has already completed their transfer dealings. We're working on it and the club has certain objectives: we're trying to complete our defensive unit and we've got people on the job, beginning with sporting director Walter Sabatini.

"We know that relatively soon our squad will be complete when it comes to the defence. The market closes on 30 August, every year opportunities and offers can arise – they will be taken if they crop up further down the line."

Baldissoni on ... the fans

"Fans are welcome to come here if they want to. It truly is a marvellous place here and the organisation is top-notch. I'd also like to compliment the guys at Roma Studio for their hard work across the entire platform, which allows supporters at home to experience the emotions here, a kind of 'Big Brother' for pre-season.

"Finally, I'd like to welcome Alessandro Pane and Marcello Iaia to the team of fitness coaches as well as goalkeeping coach Marco Savorani. New members of the coaching staff should be introduced like the players."
