Gallery: Giallorossi at Tennis with Stars charity event

AS Roma footballers featured alongside top tennis players during the second edition of Tennis with Stars at the Nicola Pietrangeli Stadium in Foro Italico on Monday

Daniele De Rossi, Edin Dzeko, Stephan El Shaarawy, Alessandro Florenzi, Miralem Pjanic, Francesco Totti and Ervin Zukanovic were mixing it with some of the biggest Italian names in the sport such as Flavia Pennetta, Fabio Fognini, Francesca Schiavone, Roberta Vinci, Andrea Seppi, Filippo Volandri and Marco Cecchinato, at the charity event organised by Internazionali BNL and Roma Cares. The contingent of tennis players was given an international feel as well thanks to the presence of Australian Nick Kyrgios who also took part.

The Giallorossi got involved in a few light-hearted games with the pros and put on an entertaining show with plenty of shots and jokes flying back and forth across the court.

The event drew a healthy crowd and all proceeds are going to the Comunità Di Sant'Egidio's vital "Humanitarian Corridor" project which aims to finance a humanitarian pathway for refugees coming from camps in Beirut.

The project mainly brings children and mothers in particularly difficult situations to Italy. More than 200 arrived in the country between March and April. Some were suffering from serious diseases worsened by the precarious living conditions in the camps. Once in Italy, the kids are distributed around various cities to ensure long-term medical and social care.

After the event, general manager Mauro Baldissoni stressed the importance of the initiative to Roma TV: “The objective of helping people in need is an important one. You could see it was a lot of fun tonight – it was a lovely evening of sport and charity.”
