Fazio made his first start in Serie A during the game, which saw Roma control the play for large parts of the contest. But Milan Badelj's 82nd minute strike clinched victory - in somewhat controversial circumstances - for la Viola, condemning the Giallorossi to their first league defeat since January.
“It was a good performance but we’re not happy about the result," Fazio said. "We worked hard for 90 minutes to get the three points so we’re not pleased.
"Now we need to keep working hard and focus on our next match straight away.”
Despite being the home side, Fiorentina were restricted to just four shots in target - thanks in part to a solid defensive display from the back four.
“The whole team played well, not just the defence," Fazio added. "We conceded from one of the few chances they had.
"We’re disappointed – the defeat hurts – but we need to keep working hard because the league is long and we still have plenty of time.”
