Perotti: Win worth more than three points

Perotti

Diego Perotti believes Sunday's 3-0 win over Bologna was worth more than three points, as the team bounced back after the frustrating draw with Empoli

The Giallorossi go into the forthcoming international break on the back of a comfortable victory and a Mohamed Salah hat-trick - leaving everyone in a positive frame of mind about the team's ongoing targets for the campaign.

"The team played fantastically," Perotti said. "In the first half we could have scored more goals and put ourselves under less pressure.

"We're good at the back and didn't give away a lot of chances. Up front we're superb and we have great players like Edin Dzeko and Mohamed Salah who always get you goals."

Despite the injury crisis, Roma got the victory with a great performance.

"We couldn't drop any more points after the draw with Empoli and today's game was vital because the international break is coming up; going into it on the back of a draw or a defeat isn't nice as there's a long time before you can play again. This win is worth more than three points."

What are Roma's objectives now?

"I've said it ever since I completed my medical at Roma: I want to fight for the Scudetto. We've got the squad to do it and we'll fight right until the end. Juventus aren't playing well, but like last year they keep churning out victories. We have to stick right in there, avoid dropping points, especially away from home, and continue to play like we did today."

What do you need to do to close the gap on Juventus?

"We need to do better away from home: that's where we have to change things. Look at the points we dropped at Empoli – these matches might seem easy but they never are."

You're in the form of your life. What has changed?

"When I joined Genoa, they adjusted the way I trained. My physique changed and now I'm at a good level. They made me work very hard and I'm continuing to do so now, at 100%. After so many injuries, there's always the worry I might get another one, but generally my head is clear now and I can play in a calm frame of mind."
