Coming into the game on the back of the weekend disappointment at Torino, the Giallorossi beat the Romanian champions 4-0 to grab their first win in Group E - a result that will give the side renewed confidence ahead of this weekend's big Serie A clash against Inter Milan.
The 40-year-old had additional reason to be pleased, having been the driving force behind three of the side's four goals.
"We're pleased with the performance," Totti said. "It was important to show everyone what we're about as a team. We responded very nicely and let's hope this continues.
"I played well but what mattered was securing a good result with a great performance and I think we managed that tonight."
Inter suffered defeat against Sparta Prague elsewhere, but Totti was not concerning himself with that.
"We have to focus on ourselves," the captain added. "The best response was to play well and win. We did both. That's what the fans and the coach wanted.
"We wanted to prove we're a united squad and show what we can do."
The game also marked the second time in eight days that the 40-year-old completed the full 90 minutes of a game, while he also played 45 minutes against Torino on Sunday.
Totti said: "I was joking with the physio during the first half that not even when I was 25 did I feel this good! I'm fit and I can handle 90 minutes pretty well."
