De Boer: Both Inter and Roma are full of quality

The Nerazzurri have begun the season in infuriatingly erratic fashion, with an impressive home victory over Juventus in the league somewhat marred by successive defeats to Hapoel Be'er Sheva and Sparta Prague in the Europa League.

De Boer believes the contrasting results are primarily down to his players' waning focus and discipline – which he hopes will not be a problem at the Stadio Olimpico.

"Against Roma it may well be easy to have the right attitude, because it’s a big match,” De Boer told reports. “We need to work on our own approach, so that we have the same attitude against every team."

He added: "Roma are a very strong side. They have quality players in every area of the pitch. We need to make sure we’re ready to take them on, or it will turn into a difficult evening for us.

"Both teams want to win, whether it’s in the league or the cup. We are two teams full of quality. We just need time to get to where we deserve to be. Roma have the ability to beat anyone."

The coach revealed he has almost a full squad available to him. Joao Mario is fit and ready for selection, while Marcelo Brozovic has also returned to the fold.

Cristian Ansaldi could be called upon but perhaps lacks the match fitness to complete 90 minutes.

Inter will be looking to bounce back after Thursday’s defeat in Prague.

"When we lose, I already have other things to think about, I have to work on this project and on our philosophy,” De Boer added. "We played badly against Sparta Prague, but in the next training session I saw that the team had made steps forward.

"I always talk to the players, when one does something wrong they need to understand what needs to change. If a player understands their error, that’s positive in my opinion."

Roma, in contrast, come into Sunday’s game on the back of a 4-0 win over Astra Giurgiu – a match in which Francesco Totti once again impressed.

De Boer said: "He’s a top player, who can change a game at any time. It’s difficult to mark him because he has a lot of experience.

"Just a few days ago he showed Europe just what he is still capable of."
