See what the Brazilian had to say ahead of Thursday's game:
How did you find playing further forward against Lazio?
“It's a position I'm used to. I've played there before so it wasn't really much of a change for me. I'm glad I was able to help the team – that's what matters.”
When you first came here you said you were fed up of seeing Juventus winning. Did you expect to be so close to them going into your head-to-head match in 10 days' time?
“That's right. I said I was fed up of seeing Juventus win the league all the time. It's going to be a big match and we have to work really hard to make sure we're totally ready for it. We're getting better by the game but we must keep improving our mentality. We know it won't be easy but it's going to be massive and I believe we can do it.”
Roma showed great character in the derby. Do you think something's changed within the team?
“We've been playing with that mentality for a few games now. It's a winning mentality and we need to take it onto the pitch and show it in training too. We've got a different attitude now and we're growing all the time. We must play with the same mentality tomorrow, against AC Milan and in the matches after that.”
Do you expect to see a response from the fans at this stage of the season?
“We need our fans. I haven't been here long but since I joined they've been right behind us. They make us stronger. Our Curva wasn't at the stadium physically for the derby but we felt their support and their strength all the same.”
