Five facts and figures after Fiorentina 1-0 Roma

The Giallorossi suffered their first defeat of the campaign away against Fiorentina on Sunday evening, thus ending a run without loss stretching back 20 games.

Here are five statistics on the match at the Stadio Artemio Franchi...

4

For the fourth season in a row, Roma's first loss of the campaign has come away from home. In the previous three years, it happened twice against Juventus in January 2014 and then October 2014, plus last season against Sampdoria on 23 September 2015. The defeat at the Franchi thus continues this trend.

8

Roma had put together a run of eight games without defeat against Fiorentina stretching back four years. Going into the fixture, the last time the Viola tasted victory against Roma in Serie A was on 25 April 2012 (2-1 at the Olimpico). Since that match, the Giallorossi had won seven and drew once against the Tuscans until Milan Badelj's late strike yesterday.

20

The loss also ended a spell of 20 undefeated league games for Roma between the end of last campaign and the current one. Between Roma 3-1 Frosinone in January and yesterday in Florence, the Giallorossi had registered 16 wins and four draws in Serie A. It was the fourth-longest period without loss for Roma, after the 30-match stretch between November 1980 and November 1981, as well as two 24-game unbeaten runs (September 2001 to March 2002 and November 2009 to April 2010). It was also the first time Luciano Spalletti's team had registered a blank in front of goal for 20 matches.

40

On the ground where he suffered his most recent serious knee injury in 2015, Kevin Strootman picked up his 40th league appearance for the Giallorossi. The Dutchman, one of Roma's shining lights against Fiorentina, has scored six goals in the Italian top flight, most recently against Cagliari two games ago.

145

Alessandro Florenzi made it 145 Serie A appearances against Paulo Sousa's Viola in Florence. However, should he fail to score in the next game against Crotone, it would be the first time he's failed to find the net in the opening five league matches of a season. Florenzi opened his Serie A goalscoring account against Inter in Week 2 of 2012-13, then Livorno during the opening match of 2013-14, Cagliari in Week 3 of 2014-15 and Hellas Verona in the first test of last campaign.
