The report, compiled by RESULT Sports and released annually, tracks the Top 75 clubs in Europe across six major social media platforms.
In July 2015, the Giallorossi were ranked the 19th fastest growing club in Europe on social media in terms of actual followers but after the most recent campaign, Roma have jumped up to 12th – the biggest mover in the Top 20.
Roma added 4,247,791 followers across the six platforms tracked during the 2015-16 campaign and saw the club leapfrog Atletico Madrid, AC Milan, Borussia Dortmund, Galatasaray, Fenerbahce, Inter Milan, Tottenham Hotspur and AS Monaco in the Top 20 fastest growing list.
While Real Madrid added the most followers overall to secure the No.1 spot in 2015-16, taking over the top spot from Barcelona, Leicester City, inspired by their incredible Premier League title win, saw the biggest percentage increase of any club in the world.
Roma, meanwhile, saw a massive 70.95% growth in social followers in 2015-16, the most of any club from 2014-15’s Top 20 list.
Paris St Germain were ranked No.2 with an increase of 45.17, while AS Monaco and Juventus were ranked 3rd and 4th, with increases of 44.33% and 38.12% respectively.
Bayern Munich (34.52%), Real Madrid (29%), Atletico Madrid (27.14%) and FC Barcelona (26%) made up the next four places in 2015-16.
