A "delighted" Bruno Peres has set his sights on dislodging Juventus at the summit of Italian football after completing a long-awaited move to Roma.
The full-back trained for the first time with his new team-mates on Thursday afternoon, a day after arriving in the Italian capital.
The Brazilian was subsequently officially unveiled to the media, where he was bullish about his new side's title chances.
"Juventus will always be rivals to me. Lest we forget, I played for Torino and now I've signed for Roma," said the Brazilian full-back. "We have a great team, lots of top players and I believe we can have an even better season and work towards winning the title.
"I've had enough of Juve winning the Scudetto, I can't handle it anymore. I've told everyone that we must win the league title this year and I'm sure we can be successful with the coach we have here."
After two seasons at Torino, Bruno Peres has joined a club that frequently showed interest in him in the past.
"I hadn't heard anything while I was on holiday, my agent was looking after everything for me," he revealed. "I was delighted when he told me a deal had been done with Roma.
"I went to bed and when I woke up I had a number of missed calls. I was told, 'Go and sign the contract at Roma.' I went to bed as a Torino player and woke up a Roma one. It's an offer I had been waiting a long time for and finally we've managed to get it done.
"I'm aware of what a big club this is - they'll give me the chance to develop and perhaps even win the Scudetto. It would be massive to play in the Champions League and I'm honoured to turn out for such a big club."
You trained with your new team-mates for the first time earlier. What have you made of them and what has the coach said to you?
"I'm delighted, all my team-mates gave me a very warm welcome. I'm pleased to have signed for a great team like Roma. I spoke a little bit about tactics with the coach to get an idea of how to play within his back four system.
"I told him it's no problem and he asked me to always work hard and keep improving. That's all I'm thinking about."
The Giallorossi management had been after you for some time but talks really moved along after Luciano Spalletti met Giampiero Ventura at Trigoria. Was that just a coincidence?
"I'm over the moon to have joined and I want to make the management happy with my style of play. I think Ventura praised me and he helped me to make this step up."
How fit are you? Are you ready to play on Saturday?
"I'm 100%. I spent pre-season with Torino, I trained and I even played a match. I'm available if the coach needs me. I'm ready to play my part for Roma against Udinese."
Why did you pick shirt number 13?
"I wanted No. 33 but Emerson has that and he's a mate. It's not the number that matters but what I produce on the pitch."
You follow in the footsteps of players like Cafu and Maicon...
"Cafu and Maicon are great footballers and real role models for me. I want to be successful like them and make history here."
Are you comfortable playing on either side?
"What matters to me is doing my bit for Roma, wherever I'm selected. There's no problem, I've played in a three, as a four, five, at full-back and in midfield. All I'm worried about is playing well for Roma."
