Speaking at his press conference on Saturday, coach Luciano Spalletti admitted that the loss of Florenzi would have a significant effect on his squad - but said the player seemed to be in determined spirits when the coach visited him in hospital
“No one can replace Florenzi – he was an extra man for us," Spalletti said. "Sadly it went the way it did and now they all need to make an extra effort.
“He seems to be in good spirits. I went to see him yesterday after the Primavera game. He's very optimistic and he was even before – we joked about it because I told him to turn up for training the next day.
"I'm optimistic and I hope to see him back more quickly than the others.”
Players and staff have rallied around Florenzi, with Friday's victorious Primavera side dedicating their Supercoppa success to a player who also came through the ranks.
