Alessandro Florenzi is determined to return stronger than before after suffering a rupture to his anterior cruciate ligament during Wednesday night's victory over Sassuolo.
Florenzi was stretchered off in great pain in the final 10 minutes of the game at the Mapei Stadium, with scans subsequently revealing the full extent of the injury.
The full-back will undergo surgery on Thursday, and posted on social media to assure fans he will be back soon - and better than ever.
The 25-year-old thanked fans, friends and family for all their wishes of support since he suffered the injury.
"Thanks to everyone for their support," Florenzi wrote in a post. "With the help of my wife, my daughter, my family and my friends, these days will pass as quickly as a run down the right wing."
He added the hashtag '#piufortedeprima' - 'stronger than before'.
The Italy international also received notes of support and encouragement from his teammates, with Francesco Totti among those to send him a personal message on social media.
"The whole squad is with you," Totti said. "Please come back even faster than before!"
Kevin Strootman also sent a message of support, the Dutch international having previously come through the same rehabilitation process that Florenzi is about to embark on.
"I have no doubt you will return soon and stronger than before," Strootman said.
