The defender underwent successful surgery on Friday, after suffering a second rupture of his cruciate ligament in his left knee while training with the Primavera.

Florenzi was clearly touched by the gesture, posting on his various social media profiles.

"I am a lucky man and a lucky player," Florenzi wrote. "I’ve realised just how many people love me – and not just Roma fans, who have once again shown me real affection. I’ve received a huge number of messages of support and I want to thank each and every one of you. You’re all very special.
"I am a lucky man. The love of my wife, my daughter, my family, my friends, my team-mates and everyone at the club spurs me on and makes me stronger. Even stronger.
"As you know, my knee ligament – which had fully healed – has torn again. But I am ready to show courage and rise to this new challenge. It doesn’t matter that it will last a whole lot longer than 90 minutes. What matters is that I have true love behind me – from you and my family.
"That’s what makes me a lucky man."
