Fazio: One final push to finish second

Federico Fazio wants Roma to end the season in style.

"We must always look forward and think about the future which is why it's important to finish second," said the Argentine defender in an interview for the official match programme ahead of the Pescara game. "Everyone needs to be committed so we can finish the season as best we can."

There are six matches to play and Napoli are two points behind. Does that worry you?

"We must think about our last six games. Every match is important but now we have to focus on Pescara and we're aiming to win that game. Napoli are a good team and they've been close to us all season. However we must simply focus on ourselves and finishing the campaign as best we can."

Where have Roma fallen short this season?

"We've lacked the rub of the green in a few games like against Fiorentina, Empoli and Cagliari. These things happen in football."

What danger do Pescara pose despite the fact they seem to be heading for relegation?

"They'll have their last chance to stay up and it won't be easy. All the teams we're still to meet have something to play for which makes them very tough games. We have to go to Pescara and get three points."

Then you face a tricky run of games: Lazio, AC Milan and Juventus...

"Yes, that will be a crucial period because there are only six games to play. We're looking good though, we're on form and our draw last Saturday changes nothing. We know what we have to do and we can play well until the end of the season."

If you could replay one or several games this season which would you pick?

“Sampdoria, Atalanta and Cagliari too."

Emerson was recently called up to the Italian national team. Have you ever considered playing for the Azzurri?

"Not a great deal, though I have discussed it at times. Italy is like a second home to me. I like it here but my main focus is always Roma."

Luciano Spalletti has said you're an important player who always builds from the back. Is that one of your best attributes?

"My footballing ability might well be one of my strengths but I'm a defender and my first job is to help out the team. We need everyone committed and on board to finish the season well."
